In our September session we will be discussing scleroderma and stem cell transplants.
Dr. Marie Hudson is a rheumatologist and epidemiologist affiliated with the Jewish General Hospital and the Lady Davis Institute in Montreal. She is also an associate professor and member of the Division of Experimental Medicine in the Department of Medicine at McGill University. Her research focuses on systemic autoimmune rheumatic diseases (SARD).
Dr. Hudson’s current research focuses on cellular therapies for scleroderma. Among several projects, she is leading a CIHR-funded Phase I/II trial of mesenchymal stromal cells in severe scleroderma.

In our October session we will be discussing wound and preventative care.
Dr. Tracy Frech is the Division Director of Rheumatology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Her primary goal in research and clinical care is early diagnosis and effective health care delivery to the systemic sclerosis (SSc) patient population. Under her SSc clinic directorship, the University of Utah and Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) were recognized by the National Scleroderma Foundation for excellence in care. She is most interested in improving early diagnosis and vascular-based treatments.

VES – Regulatory issues with access to Medicines for Scleroderma – November 2024

In November’s session we will be discussing the the regulatory issues with access to Medicines for Scleroderma in Australia.
Dr Andrew Pengilley is a Public Health Physician with 24 years experience working in various areas of public health within the Commonwealth and State and Territory Governments. For the past five years he has been a Principal Medical Advisor at the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), where he works as the head of the premarket evaluation section dealing with vaccines and anti-infectives. Prior to this Dr Pengilley worked in the ACT and Victorian Health Departments in areas dealing with infectious disease control, as well as in health promotion policy.

2024 Scleroderma Victoria Conference and AGM

The 2024 Scleroderma Victoria Conference and AGM will be held on Saturday 23rd November, 2024. It will be held at the Bourke Rooms, RACV Club, 501 Bourke St, Melbourne, commencing at 10am and concluding at 3pm. This event will be FREE for financial members of Scleroderma Victoria. The cost for non-members is $60.00 (includes lunch, tea, coffee and gift bag). Friends and family wishing to attend can join Scleroderma Victoria under our “Friends and Family” discount offer for only $15.00. Guest speakers will be Specialist Rheumatologists and Allied Health Professionals who work with Scleroderma patients. Further details to follow, closer to the event date.
