The Kerry McDonald Portable Oxygen Concentrator Loan Program

Kerry McDonald and her husband Kevin, working with the Bendigo and Seymour Scleroderma Groups, established a fund to purchase a portable oxygen concentrator that could be loaned to people with scleroderma needing extra support to stay mobile and connected.

Living with advanced fibrosis and pulmonary hypertension, Kerry personally experienced the severe limitations of the government‑funded cap of six oxygen cylinders per month. With additional cylinders costly and often unaffordable, many people faced isolation and reduced participation in daily life.

This initiative became the foundation of what is now the Kerry McDonald Equipment Fund.

Scleroderma Victoria has since continued and expanded this work and now administers a portable oxygen concentrator loan program for members, enabling greater independence, mobility, and participation for people living with scleroderma who require supplemental oxygen.

Access to a portable oxygen concentrator is arranged through Scleroderma Victoria, with further details available in our Loan Agreement Summary or by contacting a Scleroderma Clinical Nurse.

If you would like to support this program, donations to the Kerry McDonald Equipment Fund help ensure we can continue to provide and maintain essential equipment for members in need. Please select this option on our online donation form, or contact our office on (03) 9231 3651 for more information.

Every Contribution Matters

Whether you donate, fundraise, leave a legacy, or collect spare change, you are helping create a stronger, more connected scleroderma community.

Together, we can make a difference.
